Viewers have been waiting with baited breath for sadistic child groomer Maya (played by Louisa Clein) to get her comeuppance on Emmerdale.
The ITV soap has been building up to the ultimate Big Night Out for weeks now which will see one villager spot Maya and 16-year-old Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) together.
But ahead of tomorrow night’s explosive double bill, it might actually be David (Matthew Wolfenden) who puts the pieces together first following a one-to-one conversation with Jacob about his out-of-control behaviour.
Forced to step in and come up with an excuse for Jacob’s decision to steal the late Val Pollard’s (Charlie Hardwick) ring, Maya spun a tale around Jacob getting involved with the wrong crowd at school.
The teacher told her boyfriend David she’d just about managed to nip the teenager’s actions in the bud, but David was furious.
The shopkeeper warned Maya to take a step back so he could have a private chat with Jacob, and while the besotted teen will be unlikely to tell the full truth, his current state of mind might see him let a crucial clue slip.
David ordered: “Right no distractions, you’re going to come and tell me all about this new gang you’ve gotten involved with.”
“I’ll come, we can all talk about this together,” a panicked Maya insisted, desperate to stay in control of the situation.
But the stepfather was finally stepping up to take charge in Jacob’s care, as he snapped back: “I think you’ve done enough, this is between me and him.
“If you wanna help out look after the shop.”
Viewers were kept in the dark over David and Jacob’s conversation, and the teen was so upset he may end up accidentally spilling the beans on everything.
But if not, even sharing details about Maya’s involvement in helping him deal with the non-existent “gang” could be enough for David to clock on to the truth.
Maya’s desperation continued as Liv strode into the shop demanding to know where Jacob was.
The teacher breathed a big sigh and informed her pupil where Jacob was, but Liv didn’t gauge the seriousness of the implication.
“I better get that money, or I will…” Liv warned, but Maya was done playing nice.
“Or what Liv? What can you do, when Jacob is through there probably confessing everything to David?” Maya cried. “And it will all be your fault.
“You won’t get your money, and my life will be ruined.”
Maya went on to show her little-seen nasty side as her blood boiled over the possibility.
“So you better hope that that’s not happening because I will make you suffer. I will pick apart your miserable little life and I will enjoy it! So keep your vile stupid mouth shut. And wait,” the teacher finished with a flourish.
Elsewhere on the soap, newcomer Natalie (Thea Beyleveld) has agreed to be Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) and Aaron Dingle’s (Danny Miller) baby surrogate.
Yet despite the happy news, viewers have become convinced Natalie looks so much like Brenda Hope (Lesley Dunlop) she could turn out to be the cafe-owner’s long-lost daughter.
